Ann Arbor, MI – Purpose Jobs, the Midwest’s largest startup and tech community, announced Nickels to its list of Midwest Startups and Tech Companies to Watch in 2022. Companies were evaluated based on recent funding, significant employee growth, impactful product launches, office expansions, recent IPOs and upcoming exits. The list covered companies headquartered and hiring in the following cities: Ann Arbor, Chicago, Columbus, Cincinnati, Detroit, Grand Rapids, Indianapolis, Milwaukee, and Pittsburgh

Ann Arbor continues to be one of the top growing tech ecosystems around the country with some of the best startups to watch. A combination of university talent pipelines, top-rated quality of life, growing startup ecosystem, and growing VC funding has Tree Town topping lists as one of the best places to start a tech company.

Nickels partners with financial institutions to help their customers manage student loan debt and credit card debt using behavioral science and coaching. The tech is white-label ready and already used by Ann Arbor’s Lake Trust Credit Union.

“We are grateful for the recognition from Purpose Jobs,” said Joseph Gracia, Founder and CEO. “Our Credit Card Coach white label product is getting the attention of banks, credit unions, and the Ann Arbor tech community. Most importantly, consumer feedback has been great and we look forward to bringing Credit Card Coach to more financial institutions in 2022.”

From major funding rounds to explosive IPOs, new funds to new HQs, the Midwest experienced significant growth for its emerging tech hubs in Detroit, Columbus, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, and more. Out of the best 15 U.S. cities for making a real impact at a high-growth company, LinkedIn lists the top 9 as being in the Midwest. Over the last year Columbus, OH boasted the largest IPO in Ohio’s history with insurtech company Root raising nearly $725 million; Ann Arbor netted more than $215 million from venture capital firms across 43 startup companies; and Pittsburgh was just named to Startup Genome’s 2021 Global Startup Ecosystem Report as #23 on a global list of emerging startup ecosystems to watch.
